Food for Thought by 22612200798

A few weeks ago I walked into work and thought I entered paradise. There in our sell-through bin were copies of THE TOXIC AVENGER, SUSPIRIA, CRIMES OF PASSION, THE REANIMATOR, BRIDE OF THE REANIMATOR, CLASS OF 1999, and a few other choice titles—all for the low, low price of just $9.99! Like a dumb-ass, I didn't snatch them all up that day and only snagged a few to add to my ever-expanding collection of unwatched videos (I imagine after I quit or I'm fired I'll have time to watch them and in the meantime I'll enjoy the free rentals).

It was good news for me, bad news for everyone else. Now these titles have been pulled at every corporate owned store across the country. Why? Because they were unrated. Goodness no! We can't have that!

We can't have people seeing SCANDAL while the unrated version of CONFESSIONS OF A SERIAL KILLER or SINS OF DESIRE darken our Suspense section. There are a ton of films that border on pornographic (at least soft-core) at every blockbuster video but these have not been discriminately chosen to get the ax.

Blockbuster has supposedly been a "family" video store since its inception but why these titles, why now? If BBV would put its money where its mouth was then we'd lose a whole lot of stock. THE BOOB TUBE, THINK DIRTY, DR. ALIEN, and a lot of Wild Action Women-in-Prison flicks would have to be purged for us to be pure. And why do we carry the unrated 9 AND A HALF WEEKS (one of our most popular rentals—even though it's such a piece of shit) but this is not noted in the computer? Just goes to show you the mentality you're dealing with.
