Even with the lousy projection equipment at the AMC Maple that threatened to make this quite an unbearable watch whenever there was anything luminent on the screen (good thing most of this film took place at night), I really enjoyed this film.
I haven't gotten into too many Roman Polanski films made in the last two decades — I thought Bitter Moon was really lousy until I realized that it was a comedy — but this piece harkened back to his wonderful Knife in the Water where three people (two men and one woman) occupy a small space for the majority of the film.
