"Fun" was an irreverent free mag that used to haunt the cool shops around Metro Detroit and was conceived by the infamous Jerry Vile. "Fun" had articles and cartoons poking fun at just about everyone on the national and local level.

I'm not sure exactly how long "Fun" existed but I know that I saw it published highly erratically for at least two years. Back then I was really looking for the Noir Leather ads because they were always racier than those in the Metro Times.

Vile, now Peterson, runs Orbit magazine—a respectable free monthly mag that seems to be more advertisements than anything else. The articles are usually about beer and the humor is usually nothing more than grin-inspiring. I could go on but I hope to get a job there as movie critic, kicking that lame-ass Kevin King out of his lofty position. Suffice to say that "Fun" pitted themselves against everyone. No target was taboo and when they got you, you knew you had been gotten. A lot of their articles would be a little out of date at this point in time so I thought I'd give you a little taste of a few of the comics that still remain quotable among my circle of friends. It is rumored that the Charlie Brown strip was the end of "Fun" when Charles Schulz's lawyers got wind of it.

Enjoy!

In Memoriam

Bob Ross (1943-1995)

Back issues of CdC are available for a dollar a piece. All material here belongs to the writer, we just borrowed it for a while, and so can you, if you ask nicely.

Our Front Cover: Designed by Gregg Wyatt of Electric Warhol with additional help from Carol Francis and computer graphics by Andrew Haupt. I love it when a plan comes together.

Our Back Cover: "Deeds, Not Words!" Mike "Dude" Dorris, my neighbor from across the street, used to yell as he pitifully attempted to pop a wheelie. Years later I saw the fine film Megaforce, where spandex was taken to a new level. And, it was just about as dumb as Dude.
